Eye of the Storm

Our new piece Eye of the Storm is about a woman awaiting the return of her sailor son on an eroding island that is facing a severe storm. She is an elegant Madame in the form of a rod puppet, dwelling in a make shift abode in the sand, haunted by shadow visions of her son’s life. Her only neighbors are a set of hand puppets in their puppet booth who are loud, obnoxious and grotesque. A fiery dynamic develops as the slow moving Madame encounters the fast paced rhythm of the hand puppets, as elegance meets working class, as all the puppets are facing the increasingly severe storm sequences. In the end everything has transformed and the Madame finds a new freedom.

Egg Noir is an object theater piece theorizing about the course of human vision. A scientist who breeds egg heads, a machine who processes them into eye balls, and a poet in the desert who records the eye’s vision, are locked into a routine that produces a healthy eyeball. One day a bad egg infiltrates this world and threatens to destroy it.

Her surreal journey to find him unfolds in a world where dream and waking exist simultaneously. A huge swan shocks her into an unexpected transformation.

Sensational Prodigies! A toy theater piece about the life and travels of General Tom Thumb who rose to fame under PT Barnum. This piece is like a children’s book in 14 chapters come to life, depicting animated images in New York, England, Japan, Benares and Egypt, as the Thumb Company tours their show across the world in the 1850′s.
